Hi everyone. Truly Judy’s Uncommon Oldies takes us to WAVZ 1300 AM, to the Lucky 13, Radio A Go-Go survey in New Haven, Connecticut to August, 1966.
My survey artists were a garage band formed in San Jose, California. They won a Bay Area “Battle Of the Bands” competing against 100 other bands. That earned them a recording contract with Del-Fi Records. Later, they scored a big hit nationally with their #8 charting hit, Little Girl, which was first released on the Hush label and later on Bell and was a huge Truly Judy favorite.
My survey song was their follow up to Little Girl, and it was called Rumors. It peaked at #55 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Coming in at #49 this week in August of 1966 on WAVZ in New Haven, Connecticut, here are the Syndicate Of Sound with Rumors on the Bell label.
