Today’s edition of Truly Judy’s Uncommon Oldies is from KJR 950 AM, Channel 95’s Fabulous Fifty survey in Seattle/Tacoma, Washington, in early summer, 1965.
My survey group was formed in England. Most of the group members were from London. The group played in Europe and Asia before any of their songs charted in the United States. The group also auditioned to tour in Japan and played at the Tokyo 1964 Summer Olympics.
After they toured Asia, they came to the west coast of the United States and settled in California. They then played all over the US and Canada with groups such as the Lovin’ Spoonful, Stevie Wonder, the Kinks and the Rolling Stones. In 1965, they played at the famous Hollywood Bowl with the Beach Boys, the Righteous Brothers and the Byrds.
On the KJR 950 AM Fabulous Fifty survey in Seattle/Tacoma, Washington, at #41 in the summer of 1965 with the #1 song on this survey being Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones, here are the Liverpool Five, from London, England, with That’s What I Want, on the RCA Victor label.
