Truly Judy’s Uncommon Oldies – Johnny Hallyday “Shake the Hand Of a Fool”

Johnny Hallyday

KMEN

Truly Judy’s Uncommon Oldie Of the Week takes us to KMEN 129 Radio’s K/Men-Dous Ten in San Bernardino, California, to mid April, 1962.

My artist of the week was born Jean-Philippe Smet in Paris, France.  He was considered by some to have been the French Elvis Presley.  He appeared on the Ed Sullivan show with Connie Francis, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience opened for him during their very first concert in 1966.

Relatively unknown outside of France, he earned the nickname of “the biggest rock star you’ve never heard of” in English-speaking countries.

On the KMEN, San Bernardino, California, survey in April, 1962, here is Johnny Hallyday with Shake the Hand Of a Fool, from 1962, and on the Philips label.
